It gets a slightly interesting. Xorg.0.log says this is Radeon 6400M Series at
(--)PCI:* line.
However, on "(II) RADEON: driver for ATI Radeon chipsets:" line, it has all
models including 2600..6000,6200,6250,6300,6700..9800, but not 6400,6500,6600.
Then it says: (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.
It looks like that Radeon 6400-6600 Series are not supported in Xorg, or not in
this FreeBSD version.

Hi,
Post by Jin GuojunUnfortunately, X and startx will crash too if X -configure crashes :-)
is this a new feature?
Isn't xorg.conf processed at all anymore? I am under the impression that X stops
probing when the configuration in xorg.conf works.
Of course, I did not give X the drivers for probing for hardware which is not in
the box.

Hi,
Post by Jin GuojunI tried to install FreeBSD 8.3-RC1 (both 32-bit i386 and 64-bit amd64) on
this

I never use X-configure but copy xorg.conf from a machine with a running
configuration and change the settings to fit the different hardware.
